Being mindful of what you eat can have a wealth of benefits. Picking different foods for different purposes is a great way to gain control over how you feel. For example, you can boost your energy levels simply through what you eat during the day. Who would’ve thought it? Just make sure you’ve read up on what is a healthy BMI so you know how much you should be eating to stay in shape!
To help you stay energised in the afternoon, here are a few ideas of what you can eat.
Avocado Toast with Poached Eggs
For a tasty, quick and very healthy lunch, avocado on toast, topped with a tasty poached egg or two, is guaranteed to keep you going! Use a fork to spread the avocado onto the toast, and season with a little salt and pepper. Place your poached eggs on top and tuck in!
Falafel is great for a filling snack, but also works wonderfully in a wrap. Spread a generous amount of humus straight onto the wrap, fill with plenty of veg (such as spinach leaves, tomatoes and red onions) and top with falafel. Use a wholemeal wrap for extra energy points!
Quinoa is a great source of protein and will ensure your energy levels stay topped up throughout the afternoon. Add whatever you want, be it vegetables, meat or even some more of that tasty falafel! Top with a dressing or some humus and get eating.
Healthy, easy to make and super tasty, stuffed peppers are a great go-to for a lunch when you need some extra energy. Fill with quinoa or rice, plenty of seasoning, some vegetables and feta cheese. Delicious!

It can be all too easy to grab a bag of crisps or pick up a cake when you’re in need of a lunch-time snack, but these definitely won’t keep you energised throughout the afternoon. Here are some alternative ideas that you can choose instead:
