How do I open the lunch box, if a vacuum forms? On the top of the lid, there is a vacuum release valve. Simply press the valve to allow air into your lunch box and the vacuum will be released.
What happens if my lunch box leaks? Check the seal and make sure that it has not been compacted in any one area. Simply pull the silicon seal out and then reapply, making sure that it is not squashed too tightly at any point.
What happens if my sauce pot or inner dish leaks? The sauce pot and inner dish are made from polypropylene. This is a great material, but it can deform easily and this makes it difficult to get non round seals always perfect. But luckily this can be fixed with boiling water. Submerge your sauce pot or inner dish in boiling hot water for 5 minutes. Then remove, shake off excess water (so you can hold it without burning yourself) and tightly clamp down the lid with your hands, making sure that you are squeezing it closed tightly. Do this for five minutes until it has cooled. This should solve the problem as the pot will have formed to the correct shape.
How do I remove stains? If microwaving foods such as tomato sauce, it can leave a stubborn residue stain. This can be removed by applying bicarbonate of soda with a damp cloth to these stubborn stains.
The two clips on the lid ensure that your food stays in the box and the wide silicone seal is easy to remove for easy cleaning.
Cutting edge fork
We call it a 'fife' because it is a fork & knife combined. The fife has a sharper edge down one side and this makes one-handed eating a piece of cake. You can also use the silicone fife holder for your own chopsticks* if you prefer.
Sauce pot & inner dish
Your Box Appetit comes with a handy sauce pot so you can keep your salad dressing or sauce separate until you’re ready to use it (no more soggy salads!). The optional inner dish is an easy way to partition and microwave separate parts of your food. So, for example, you could have hot vegetables with a cold salad and not need to decanter anything onto a plate.
Vacuum release valve &
sauce well in lid
If hot food cools, then a vacuum can form and cause the lid to be difficult to open. If this happens, simply press on the silicone release valve to lift the lid. There is also a neat sauce well which you can fill with your chosen dipping sauce (great for soy sauce if you’re a sushi lover!).
